Palestina Resisteix has followed with deep
interest the election process, outcome and aftermath in the
post 67 occupied Palestinian Territories and reasserts
itself in its committment with the Palestinian cause for
self-determination.
|
|
|
Palestina Resisteix is linked to no particular
faction in Palestine and it is not our intention as a group
to interject ourselves into the internal debates of
Palestinian politics. It will be up to the Palestinian
voters themselves to confirm or overturn the present results
in a future election.

Winning party Hamas has been subject to harsh
criticism and pressure for not admitting to Israel’s
existence. While we question the legitimacy of a colonial
state bent on ethnic cleansing, discrimination and expansion
at the expense of a native people, we consider it is sleight
of hand to waffle against the wish of some Palestinians to
see the State of Israel dismantled in the future while
Israel itself is actually engaged in a wholesale and daily
campaign to destroy the organised existence of the
Palestinian people.
|
|
|
|
We also have to point out at the threat to deny the
Palestinian Authority tax money withheld by Israel and
promised US and EU funding until Hamas yields to these
demands. This blackmail brings inlight as to what little
“sovereignty” the Western powers are ready to relinquish
to the Palestinians.

International pressure should be directed at Israel
instead as a reply to its continued failure to international
lawfulness.

|
|
|
We renew our call to the Catalan society and
institutions to side overtly and unreservedly for the
Palestinian people’s rights and security.
